It was January when Soni Luke joined the North Queensland Cowboys and after earning a bench spot on the regular in 2026, the club has handed him a new deal for 2027.

The contract extension is just rewards for Luke who has worked hard this season and produced a few crafty moments in his time on the field.

It was back in 2022 when Luke made his debut with the Penrith Panthers with Luke since going on to represent Tonga internationally.

With eight games to his name so far in 2026, he has quickly become a key part of the Cowboys squad in the eyes of club recruitment and list manager Dean Zammit.

“We couldn’t be more impressed with Soni since he arrived in North Queensland,” Cowboys Recruitment and List Manager Clint Zammit said.

“He was on a train and trial deal at South Sydney when we identified him as an option to add to our dummy-half depth and he has quickly become an important part of our squad.

“His running game out of dummy-half provides a real point of difference for our attack and away from the field his leadership is exceptional.”
