In a move that has shocked St George Illawarra Dragons fans to the core, star fullback Teagan Berry will depart the club at the end of the 2026 NRLW season.
Berry, who came through the Dragons pathway system, enjoyed a great first year of rugby league in 2019 where she scored a double in Illawarra’s Tarsha Gale Cup triumph and the NSW U19s Origin.
Debuting at 18 for the Dragons while still in high school, Berry is the club’s all-time leader in tries with 37, points with 150 and appearances with 41.
Now, 24, Berry earned a State of Origin berth earlier this year and although it was hard to make the decision to leave, she believes it was the right one.
“I have made so many great memories at the Dragons,” Berry said.
“This decision was certainly not an easy one.
“I am grateful that the Dragons took a chance on me when I was a teenager and gave me an opportunity to chase my dream. I am all in for 2026 and really want to finish my time at this club on a high.”
Dragons NRLW coach Nathan Cross knows that Berry will be a huge loss for the club but backs her to perform as she has in years past.
“Teagan has been a massive part of this club since she was still in school,” Cross said.
“Whilst it’s disappointing that her journey as a Dragon is coming to an end, we have full confidence that she will put her best foot forward for the remainder of the season and do everything she can for her teammates.
“We wish Teagan all the very best moving forward and thank her for the incomparable mark she has left on our club.”
