Troy Grant’s journey continues, with the former New South Wales politician appointed as the new Chairman of the International Rugby League.

Grant, who has rugby league in his blood, will replace the outgoing Greg Barclay.

Grant currently serves as an independent director and deputy chairman of the International Rugby League.

Most known for his time in NSW politics, Grant started out his rugby league adventure both as a player and a ball-boy.

A strong advocate to continue rugby league expansion on a global stage, Grant is proud and privileged to take on the role of Chairman.

“I feel very proud and privileged, especially as we look forward to the unique excitement of the World Cup later in the year,” Grant said on Tuesday.

“I have a lifetime involvement in the sport, and I am extremely ambitious for the sport globally.”

Grant has also served as a rugby league referee, a junior coach, and an administrator.
